A House Left publication

MODACALL

Terms

MODACALL™ keeps the rights to what it makes, gives the people it features a clear right to share their story, and gives other publications a one-time right to run it — never ownership.

Version 3 · In effect from October 10, 2026 (Version 2: October 7, 2026; Version 1: October 6, 2026). Version 3 adds production provided images. These terms are between you and House Left LLC, doing business as House Left Studio, publisher of MODACALL™.

Who these terms are for

You let us tell your story; we give you the finished pages to share, with credit. You agree to this when you sign the release on your proof page.

  1. Permission. You let MODACALL™ publish the article about you — your name, likeness, quotes, and the photos and brand materials you supplied — in print, online, in the digital edition, on social media and in MODACALL™'s own promotion, and to place it with another publication (see below).
  2. Accuracy. What you told us is true to the best of your knowledge.
  3. Your materials. You have the right to share the photos and brand materials you sent, and the photo credits are correct. If a photographer owns an image, give us their name and email. We ask every photographer to sign their own release, and no image runs without it. The one exception is images your production provided: see "Production provided images" below.
  4. Editorial and unpaid. The article is editorial. You are not paid for it, and you don't pay for it. MODACALL™ decides the final edit, placement and timing.
  5. Approval. You see a proof and approve it. Once approved, it is final.
  6. Your finals. After publication we give you the pages, social images and a print PDF. You may post them on your own channels with the credit line, print them for yourself, your portfolio or your press kit, and send them to people who book or cover you.
  7. Please don't crop out the credits, change the pages, or reprint the article in another publication without asking us first.
  8. The credit line. "As featured in MODACALL™, [issue] · Story by Brenda Jameson (@brendajameson)." Please tag @brendajameson, and your photographers, so we can share it too.
  9. Brand ads. An ad that runs beside your story belongs to the brand. The brand may reuse it anywhere. We may decline to run an ad, and you may withdraw one before publication.
  10. Who owns the article. House Left LLC owns the article's words and layout, and any photo a photographer has signed over to us in writing. Every other photo stays with whoever owns it. Your own photos and brand materials stay yours; you lend them to us for this story.
  11. Under 18. A parent or legal guardian signs the release for anyone under 18, and is named on it.

For contributors

You keep your copyright; MODACALL™ gets a non-exclusive right to publish your work with your credit, and a first run of 30 days. You agree to this when you submit.

  1. Every photographer signs their own release — nothing moves without it. When you submit, give us each photographer's name, email and which images they shot. We email every photographer a private link to sign a release for their own images. Until every release is back, your story does not move forward: no layout, no proof, no publication. If a photographer says no or doesn't answer, those images are pulled; you may offer others, and we ask again. A wrong or missing email holds up the whole story, so please check them.
  2. Production provided images. Images the production of a show or event gave you to use, for example its official runway photos, need no photographer's release. Instead, name the production company, give any credit the production requires, exactly as it asked, and confirm that the production gave you these images to use for press. They run with "Courtesy of [production company]" and that credit. MODACALL™ may still ask the production, or the photographer, to confirm.
  3. You own your work. Photos, words and styling you submit stay yours.
  4. What MODACALL™ may do with it. Once accepted, MODACALL™ may publish it in print, online, in the digital edition and on social media, use it to promote that issue, and keep it in the archive. This right lasts as long as the issue is published or archived.
  5. First run. For 30 days after the issue comes out, please don't publish the same images or text elsewhere. After that you may use them anywhere, ideally with "As seen in MODACALL™".
  6. Credit. Every piece carries your name as you give it. Tell us your handle so we can tag you.
  7. Free or paid. Most contributions are unpaid. A paid placement is agreed in writing — email is fine — before publication, and is labelled as sponsored.
  8. The editor decides. Submitting doesn't guarantee publication. MODACALL™ may edit for length, clarity and style, and will show you anything changed beyond small edits.
  9. What you promise. The work is yours, or you have the right to submit it, and any images you list as production provided were given to you by that production to use for press; you have a signed model release for every recognisable person; and the credits for hair, makeup, styling, designers and locations are correct. If one of these promises turns out untrue and someone makes a claim against MODACALL™ because of it, you cover that claim.
  10. AI. Tell us if any part was made or altered with AI beyond normal retouching. We may decline it, or run it with a note.
  11. Taking it down. Ask and we will remove your work from the website within 7 days. Printed copies already out can't be recalled.

When MODACALL™ places a story elsewhere

The other publication gets the right to run the story once, in the issue named when we place it; House Left LLC keeps everything else.

  1. What they get. A one-time, non-exclusive right to publish the story in the named issue, in print and on their website, and to share it on their social media with credit.
  2. What they don't get. Ownership, or the right to run it again, sell it, or place it with anyone else.
  3. Credit. "Story by Brenda Jameson" on the article, as supplied.
  4. Changes. Layout adjustments are fine. Changes to the words or images come back to us first.
  5. What House Left LLC may do. Give the person featured their finals and print PDF, publish the story in MODACALL™, and use it in Brenda Jameson's portfolio — all after that publication's issue is out.
  6. Brand ads. Ads supplied with the story belong to the brands. The publication may decline any ad.
